Coilpack MSD-DIS-2?
Ok, i'm guessing my coilpack is going out, and i was wondering if I should just get a new one or if I should get a aftermarket one. I got a cylinder 2 misfire the other day.
I'm not too clear on how the ignition system works. I know we have two-coil ignition system, but is the coilpack and the msd-dis-2 different? would the dis-2 replace my stock ignition?

yeah the DIS-2 will replace the stock ignition sytem alltogether. itll throw a hell of a lot more spark down too. better spark = better fuel burnage (is that a word? ) = more power. plus youll get to play with the timing a tad, which my give you that extra 10th of a second you need to beat someone!

Actually, the MSD DIS-2 unit is a replacement igniton spark box, but it does NOT replace the coils. MSD does sell DIS coils, but they are not cheap.
There are 3 flavors of DIS. the DIS-2, The DIS-2 H0 (High Output) and the Digital DIS-2.
The DIS-2 is the "standard"
The DIS-2 HO is intended for "racing"
The Digital DIS-2 is designed to let you custom talor your spark and ignition timing. (this needs to be done by pro's on a dyno!)
They only sell 2 kinds of DIS coil Packs that will work on our cars.
One is there normal DIS coil, the other is a "HO" unit designed to work with the HO DIS-2.

ouch, is that right? $320 for a new ignition? is that needed? Any noticable gain? or is it just for turbo/super/boost?
