Alright guys, my GF just bought a 99 Tiburon SE. Its very nice, but to me the clutch pedal doesnt feel right. On my talon and on my old tiburon the clutch had 1" free play, and then about 3-4" until it fully engaged. Her tibs clutch pedal has maybe 1/3" free play, and a total of 1.5" travel. It doesnt feel right. Also when I floor it, it feels horribly slow, like the clutch is slipping. (I know its slipping for sure)

I have driven 3 different RDs in my life time. Two of them had this weird clutch pedal problem, mine was normal (to me anyways).

So my question is: How much does your clutch pedal travel? Is it normal for the pedal to engage so low? The only other car I have driven where the pedal engages so low was a 85 Corolla. She couldnt drive my talon because the way the clutch was, and the tiburon was easier for her.

I've always adjusted mine to start engaging basically at the top... however the pedal always goes to the floor, smoother shifts that way. Just because the clutch seems fully depressed doesn't mean it is in the transmission.

Supposed to be 1-3MM free play. 6MM for the clutch switch at the top, and about 90mm (2.8 inches) to the floor.

As far as the grabbyness of the clutch, it diminishes with time. I may have about 1" on a 20K old clutch. I think it was 2" or 2.5" when i put it in.

Something is not right there man, when you shift that pedal should travel all the way down. How do the gears feel when you shift with it like that?

The pedal does travel all the way down, but it never seems to really grab. When I shift I can feel it slipping for sure. Right now I think it needs to be re-adjusted, if it feels the same after the adjustment I think she will have to get a new clutch.

I'm not sure if this helps, but I have to replace my clutch and it's going to cost around $700 for the entire thing to be replaced. But I'm a little further north than windsor, so there could be a price difference....
