Car Won't Stay On
#1
No, it isn't my Tib. Actually, it is my sister's '93 Honda Accord. When you turn the car on it will turn on but then immediately die out. The car has a 1/4 tank of gas. My dad is going out to get more gas right now in case the guage is wrong. We tried jumpering it but it still just died out. Anyone, know what to do? Any suggestions at all?

So it won't idle?
What happens when it starts?
How long does it stay on?
What if you try to give it gas as you're starting it?
More details .. experiment with some stuff and tell us what happens, otherwise just knowing it won't idle it could be lots of things.

It won't idle at all... not even 2 seconds.
We think we have it narrowed down. New info has just come in that she left the lights on AGAIN last night. Battery replacement time.

another area to look at is the ignition switch itself..
honda uses ign1 and 2 circuits..
engine start on ing1.. then "runs" on ign2
very often the ign2 get damamged with time
so as long as you hold the starter on the engien will run but when you're on ign2 it dies
you could try holding the ign key "betwen" ign1 and ign2
if this work then you need a new swithc wich is quite cheapo from the dealer
fuel pump usually die only when they are hot

dude, if it was your battery then after you keep trying to start it eventually it wouldn't even crank anymore. from what you have told us so far (not much!) it doesn't sound like the battery to me.

Could be battery. Unlike an older car, modern fuel injected cars actually require more juice than you think just to run. Have you tried leaving it hooked up to another car with jumper cables while it runs?
It could also be the fuel filter. If it is totally clogged, the fuel pump can probably pressurize the injectors enough for it to initially start, but then run out of fuel from a lack of flow. Same with the fuel pump.
Low compression or a wounded enging would require a LOT of cranking to start.. same with bad plugs or wires.
Could be the ignition switch as mentioned above. Once you turn the key back to "run" it could be killing all power to the ignition and such.
Easy check on the fuel problem.. and be careful with this.. ether, it would keep the car running for several more seconds if it has no fuel.
