Default Cams?

Besides the 1.8l cams, are there any other good cams for an N/A setup, with maybe a nitrous future?

I had read on fxtreme that 2 Uniq knew where to get "semi-racing" cams.

Any suggestions?

There is the old 1997-2001 1.8L elantra cam, and then there is the new 2001+ Elantra cam that is even better.

HVE sells cams as does RPW. Sam is also looking into carrying some N/A Cams from Korea, but I don't know about the ETA.

I had heard that HVE sold some, but I've also heard that buying from them can be problematic.

So the new elantra cam in an N/A setup should be better than the old 1.8 cam?

the older 1.8 cam had .4mm more lift and 8 degrees more duration, the new one has .8mm more lift and same duration, it should give you a bit more umph than the older 1.8 ( that I have ).

since it is a hyundai part,... have any of you gotten the cams tuned at the dealer??? all they have to do is remap the ecu so it can use the cams effectively, right???

Nope. Just installing the cam is all you need. There is no "ECU TUNING" that a hyundai dealer can do under warranty. They might do some stuff outside of warranty on the side, but you won't get a work order for it.

so the 01 elantra cam it is...should i get an intake before i get the cam?

Besure you get the Elantra 2.0 GT intake cam before buying compare the price from what Sam can get it for you. You you send him and email he might be able to hook you up.

I know it can be a PITA trying to get cams from Australia but they do make some seriously good cams for the Tibby. The midrange 248 to high 268 degree cams with marked increased lift seem to give some serious power gains with good torque. We have seen some good results from these cams, but I would recommend some head porting to take maximum advantage of these cams.

If you are thinking nitrous, concentrate on the exhaust ports and exhaust camshaft.

I would recommend either HVE or CamTech, the majority of Korean cams are either poor copies of these cams or poor designs.
