Cai Or Short Ram?
#13
That is what I did for mine, I made a short ram since during the winter it rained alot and there were a lot of deep puddles. I just haven't got around to putting back in my CAI. I am almost thinking about getting a dyno done with the short ram and then with the CAI to see what the difference would be.

a cai would be more effective for power, but yes you do have to worry about hydro locking your engine. use an aem bypass valve and that should eliminate all your chances of inducting water into your system.
some good info on that valve

Bypass valves are the gayness... really I mean c'mon... unless you live in southeast Asia or Africa and have monsoons and tsunamis and all sorts of crazy wet weather, there isn't a need for it.
You keep the filter in good shape, it'll take a splash and absorb it. The engine can stand a little water as well (remember, there is water vapor in the air...)... you would need to totally submerge a good filter in water to hydrolock.

or you live along the coast. I have lost a couple of cars due to flooding during our spring and fall tides. Not to mention the lovely nor'easters we get. Nothing like waking up in the morning and sticking your feet four inches deep into 40 degree water... on your bedroom floor.
