I just got a beta II head for a full port and polish and intend to do the intake manifold as well. While I realize that their are some differences between the manifolds, will they interchange?

If this has been answered before I apologize, I searched and was unsuccessful

the bolt patern works
but the beta1 port are smaller
you can port them to the beta2 size but you need to weld a bit on 2 runners so you don't get a hole once ported

Is this to run on a Beta1 (MAF) engine?

You can use either IM. The Beta 2 you will need to block the MAP sensor spot and use a Beta 2 Throttle Body and IAC. I think thats it

And if I use the beta 1 manifold I am going to have to weld some extra material on it?

No he is saying if you were to try and bore it to the same size of the Beta2 you would have to add some or you would end up with a hole. In other words, the Beta2 will be better for performance. You can not make the Beta 1 manifold have the same size ports without adding material. Hopefully that clears it up. The beta 1 will bolt up not problem at all.

Okay, so you just cant gasket match it to the same size without complications. The tb and iac wont cross over either?

Not for the beta 2. The beta 2 has different TB bolt pattern and Uses a different style IAC. There is more specific information around here somewhere. Im not positive on the IAC on how it is different off hand
