Uh...where do you get this information from? The HLA equipped cams should be more or less the same as the solid shim cams, only the ramp up rate would be slower.

Hey, does anyone have any word on performance cams for the 97-2000 Tibs? I know HDK has some listed, but I am not ordering from there after all the horror stories.
Random, is SR going to carry some performance cams?

The problem Shark Racing has in carrying cams is that all the Korean companies are afraid to release the cam spec/profile info. They fear the cams will be copied.
So Sam can get them, but since they come with minimal information (256 degree or 272 degree is all), they may make tuning (and buying) a tad hard.
I've asked same to make some deals and see what he can get. Just keep your fingers crossed.

The different ramp rate would not make it run like crap. Putting a hydraulic cam on a solid lifter car would work just fine -- in fact, it would yield almost the identical performance change on the solid-lifter engine... I'm not sure what you're thinking about, but you can make a car breathe just fine without making a 5mm/degree lobe ramp.
Lesser ramp rate will not hinder a solid-lifter car. The only difference is a solid-lifter engine can deal with higher lobe ramp rates than an HLA engine can. It doesn't mean it REQUIRES higher lobe ramp...

Its what i've been told. But if your not having problems, i guess it doesn't pertain to hyundais. Not that it really matters to me, i still have a hydraulic drivetrain. lol wink.gif

ok yoos guys have lost me....
so to simplify it for my simple mind...since i got an 01 tiburon, i could drop in a cam from a 2.0 elantra GT and it'll be better and faster....right?

Yes. To make things simple.
1997-1998 1.8L elantra cam. GOOD
2001+ 2.0L Elantra cam BETTER
fully modified intake/exhast cams...BEST
