can't we just custom fit an AWD system from another make? ie: Mitsubishi

I wouldn't bother mate. If you had the money to drop on a Tib to make it AWD for the sheer fact of having AWD, you'd be better off getting a Rex or an Evo.

I get what you mean. But unfortunately, for me where I am, it is cheaper going for a swap rather than getting a WRX or Evo. Those cars costs a premium here compared to just getting the front clip of the car

that's the car (RD1 with Evo4 engine) that got me to start this thread.
most people just throw in the Evo engine and run FWD
EDIT: it looks like they knocked out the spare wheel well to accommodate the rear diff.
