thanks for the advice guys. i ended up calling some sort of junkyard locator guy and he found a junked tibby in ny.. asked for a package deal and he said hed get back to me.. just gotta wait and see now
another question that popped in my head.. is having the stick worth the money im gonna spend on it or are the changes miniscule?

You mean quarter mile, time wise? Or drivability wise? Overall, the car is going to be more fun to drive stick. Unless your lazy and just like to chill and press the gas all day. It might take a 0.2-0.4 off you ET as well...

they car will probably be more reliable with a stick.. the autos hyundai uses are not the best. You might want to take the "new" tranny to a shop first and have them open it up and poke around for worn syncros, bearings, and broken gears though. Nothing worse than putting a tranny in and having it come up lame.

you'll see a world of difference between the two. its definately worth it. If you feel like driving down to columbus ohio there is a place called Marshall's they have tons of 1G's wrecked. A tranny from a 97-01 will work for you.
