No, the V6 shit bag Tib tranny won't fit.

What do you want a 6 speed for anyways? It is just status.

There IS a 6 Speed in Korea for the Beta 2 now, it SHOULD bolt right up, but try to import one to see.

No thanks.

As redz said why would you want to change to a 6 one?

what would be the advantage? 6 speeds wont make you faster... better invest the money on other mods

6 speeds can make you faster ;/ Depends on the gearing..

Properly geared.. a six speed will make you faster on a road course. On the quarter mile, it is just one more time you have to shift (if you have the power to use all 6 gears)

I have heard that adding the sixth gear (in a properly geared car) can be like adding 50hp. When properly spaced, the extra gear allows you to shorted the first five gears which keeps you in the meat of the powerband rather than falling out of it at the begining and end of each shift.

Remember, people said the same thing of the five speed when it started coming out in the late sixites and early seventies... I dare you to find a manual shifted four speed in a new car today.

Personally, I might see if I can do this. I did want to build a new engine for boost sometime soon.. so that might be the best time to see if the six can mate up to the beta.

You guys have OBVIOUSLY never driven the GK with a 6 speed.

It's like it was put on there as an after thought.

It sucks ass.

No, the 6 Speed from the Delta WILL NOT BOLT UP.

The 6 speed available on the Beta in Korea SHOULD bolt up, but would cost thousands to get over here and get on.

I understand why there are 6 speed tranny's, but the ones available to us, suck ass.

interesting fact, the 2.0 6speed is geared the same as the 2.7 6speed. VERY interesting, so is the part number. wink.gif

comparison to stock....
http://hmaservice.com/webtech/iindex.asp?i...0783#_394880783

maybe they are the same. id look on hyundaiusa parts, but the server is down now.

hyundai has cheaped out on other things, maybe they kept the tranny housing the same.

i was about to say that the gearing wouldnt help, but it would. the FGR in the 6-speed is 4.678 compared to 3.65 in our 5-speeds. gearing is almost the same in gears 1-5. acceleration would be a lot better, and top speed would be close to the same.

So Redz.... exactly what is so bad about the Gks 6 speeder? no offense man, but having somebody say it's no good does not wash without some reasons... is it geared too low? too high? Difficult to shift? From the looks of things on that sheet Tibby01 offered... it looks like they did their homework in putting the gears together. Compared to the gears on the 2.0 five speed.. they are lower geared (slightly) until you get to the nice Over-drive 6th... Personally,, I would have geared them closer together.. but, with a nice boosted engine, the wide spaced gears are actually better.

I thought I gave some reasons.

Well, for one, I was in like 5th doing 80 and it was at like 3.5K RPM. 6th felt like it wasn't even needed. Too low or high, I dunno, I just really didn't like it. More importantly, neither did the wife.

Again, the 6 Speed now available for the Beta 2 could be a way different story.
