Default 4-1 Headers Dyno

Has anyone dynoed the 4-1 SR headers yet. I have seen extensive results on the 4-2-1 headers. but these headers are for better drivability with only slight HP gains. (Around 7 hp BAT LORD). I have "heard" that the 4-1 Headers make upwards of 15 WHP in the 5000-6000 RPM range. Has anyone bought, tried or better yet dynoed them?

got the 4-1 and the speedstate mbrp exhaust, love them to death. Definate improvement in power, i've never tested the 4-2-1's tho. People recommend 4-2-1 for auto's because they spend most of their time in lower rpm's and they have different gear ratio's, and they recommend 4-1 for 5-speeds.

But it all depends on what your going to be doing with your car? Daily driver? Track? Take note of where you spend most of your time (ie rpm range) and then we can make a better recommendation.

well I can tell you though, that if you're looking at the ranges themselve, then there's a point in my dyno where I gained I believe closer to 12whp, I'm sorry I wish I could remember around what range... This is why you must look at the complete RPM range, not just from 5-6k... cause you're not always gonna be there, only when you punch it... hope I explained myself good, thanks man

I know, the 4-2-1 will give you alot more bottom end torque and only slight top end. So its completely believable that you gained 12 HP on your curve somewhere. Its almost expected with your peak torque being 117 ft/lbs.

If you had gained that torque somewhere above 5000 rpm your peak HP would go through the roof :-) But I just wish I had a dyno of those 4-1 headers. I know they would be peaky and yes my car is a daily driver, but still I want the peak HP. I dont think they would drop low end torque by more then 10%. Opinions? Dynos? hehe

I have a 5 speed 2K Tib so if i wanted to purchase some headers would i go for 4-1 or 4-2-1? Which would be best? Would i have to remove one of my cats or what

2ktib, you have to replace one regardless, because one cat is part of your exhaust manifold. the second one(on CA emission vehicles) can stay and you just have to shift your o2 sensors back when you put your headers on. But the better option is to get a highflow cat and a new exhaust at the same time to benifit from the headers.
