Default 4-1 header vs. 4-2-1 header?

What is the real difference between the 4-1 header and the 4-2-1 header? Also is there any difference between the 4-1 header and the HVE 4-1 header?

4-1 gives you more top end power (higher RPM range)
4-2-1 gives you more low end power (lower in the RPM range)

I recommend 4-1 if you have a manual and 4-2-1 if you have an auto

difference between HVE and SR,... i think the piping is the same

either way,... same **** different color

next time please use the search feature, this topic has been covered many times smile.gif

There is a big difference between the HVE and SR header. The HVE is a "straight race header" (the header ends in a pipe--it needs to be welded on, the is no flange). You have to drill the O2 sensor b/c one is not already drilled. The HVE is a lot less expense--good. If you know how to install it. The reason why I know this is b/c I installed the HVE header on my Elantra. 4-1 is good for manual b/c it gives you top end, however I installed in on my auto b/c I'm looking for top end performance. 4-2-1 is good for auto it will help you down low where autos lack it. wink

Also, HVE's non ceramic header will get ugly pretty fast since its not stainless steel like the SR one...

Did you notice a drop in low end torque? And how well does the 4-1 work on a auto tib?

jaws pretty mutch said it. If you have a 5-speed, it would be silly to do anything but a 4-1. Since most of your driving is going to be in the high rpm band(in driving i mean racing wink and auto's lack the low end power, so the 4-2-1 would be perfect for that too. But it all depends on how you want to build up your car.

You should do stainless if at all possible. It'll last longer and look better. And even if you do get stainless or not you'll want to ceramic coat them or wrap them to make them retain heat better and provide more power wink
