30k Tune-up Maintenance
#1
Hey Everyone
My 01 tiburon is approaching the 30k mark and will soon need a tune up. I don't want to pay like $200 for a repair shop to just run some tests and change fluids for me. Is it possible that I can do this myself? Does anyone know where I can find information on what steps to take in doing your 30k tune up?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank You

automatic or manual?
get some spark plugs and wires, change those. Autozone should have them for about $40 total.
get your oil changed... coolant flush (not sure how necessary that is)... if it's an automatic, drain and refill your fluid (I think you use about 3 quarts to drain and refill, and it's $5.54 per quart from a Hyundai dealership). Make sure you get the right stuff.. SP-II or SP-III.. not Wal-Mart brand or regular ATF. Most places charge $50 for tranny fluid drain and refill.

dealers will try anything they can to void your warranty. If your tranny ever goes out (which is highly likely if you've got an auto) then you want to make sure to keep receipts of the 30k and 60k mile maintenance

As far as the warrenty goes my dealer told me the 30 an 60,000 tune ups had to be performed at the dealership to not void your warrenty...however you do not have to get all the things the suggest done.....I only had them check the vital things and change some fluids....as far as brakes, oil, air filter, tire rotation and so on I have all aftermarket stuff so they just subtracted the cost of those parts and charged me for the rest.

Thats exactly what i did. I just asked what I need them to do to keep my warranty going. It worked out to be nothing more than an oil change, and something else, I can't remember right now. They wanted 400$ cdn for the 48,000kms service, I paid around 90$ for the essential service and got to keep my warranty.
you can do plugs/wires, brakes, air filter, etc. yourself just keep the bills and you should be fine.

Just go to your local dealer, tell them you want a copy of the checklist for the 35000 mile service, do the work yourself, and keep the reciepts.
CAI doesn't void shit.
