Default '03 DIY CAI

Yet another DIY CAI for the '03 V6. I finished it over the weekend.

I did a fairly thorough walk through with lots of pictures and tried to cover every step in excruciating detail. It can be found here

http://www.northcountynetworks.com/tibcai.htm

If anyone sees anything that I screwed up, please let me know. This pretty much the first time I've touched a wrench, and definitely the first time I ever tried a mod like this.

Random- thanks - I gave you credit on my walkthrough.

Decker- I got mine at a speed shop in Irvine, but if you hit my walkthrough above there's a link to a place called hosetechniques that makes pre-cut ones. They were very hard to find. The shop I went to doesn't have a web page, but I can dig up their number if you e-mail me.

where can you find k&n funnel ram filter. do you know any sites that sell these? i found one but i can't remember where. what else would be a good filter. also, what's the difference between a 3" piping and a 2.5". what's better?

3" piping is 3 inches in diameter
2.5" piping is 2.5 inches in diameter

Bigger pipes let more air in, right?

The filters are sold just about everywhere--if your local store doesn't stock them but has other K&N filters then they can make an order for the model you want. Poke around at http://www.knfilters.com/universal/univrndtap.htm to find the model you want. I don't bother ordering stuff like that online so I can't recommend a good site.

Agreed, any local speed shop should have them.

If you go to my walkthrough I posted a link for a filter I found on-line, they're pretty easy to find.

As far as the 3" tubing, that's really what you want since the TB and MAF are roughly 3". If you used 2.5" you'd have to use reducers and there's not much sense in doing that.

hey pahaake, one more thing? did you consider the amount of airflow that's going into the engine? did you test it? how does it run and feel? do you feel any gains? the reason why i'm asking is that my friend said that if i build my own i have to consider testing the airflow to make sure i get the proper amont and not hurt the engine. just wondering.
