Diy - Bbtb Install & Throttle Body Bypass Mod (free!)
#21
Stupid question from a newbie here.. Im trying just to do just the bypass mod on the stock TB for now... It seems to me like I need to plug up the coolant intake nipples on the body itself, otherwise it would sort of defeat the purpose of having an air filter eh?

dude..
you have to.
lol.
unless you have a bbtb?
there are no hoses running to/from your throttle body? (thats the part between your intake manifold and the rubber elbow piece fing02.gif)

No. coolant flows through there, not air. When you take the lines off, it'll dry out and that's it. No air goes in through there, otherwise you'd be sucking COOLANT in your intake.

Either you don't know what you are doing or you bought a car with a aftermarket throttle body on it and the bypass is allready done. OR, someone ahead of you did this allready.

Ah, makes sense (I wasn't sure if coolant was something that was okay to go thru the intake, I'm so noob) smile.gif
I attached the hose that was still connected to the TB back to the other nozzle in any case.. There's no problem with this, is there?

Just as long as you did what it says in the DIY and looks like the picture, you are good. You just remove the 2 hoses from the TB, remove one from the Engine tube, and loop the other. Position the clamps, and you are done.

If there is no hose looped at the bottom, you are going to have some serious cooling issues, if you don't allready.
