Righ so I've gone and bought this beautiful strut bar from one of are fine members and received it today and in fine form. So I goes out to the tib with thee olde socket set and start peeling of the the nesessary bolts. I reposition the sensor without issus evrything is brilliant. Now I expect these bolts havn't been moved since 98 so I knew it wasn't going to be easy. about 1/2 an hour later im stuck on the very last bolt. Long story some what shorter its now stripped and im sitting here with a desperate cry for an idea on how to remove this beast. I bought one of those beautiful boinic wrenches (very handy) but it doesn't fit in the space provided! AHAHHAHAH Now what?
Just venting sorry...

^^ probly a strut tower bar as he had to move the sensor.
if it comes down to cutting them, you'll need a upper strut assembally. Otherwise you need a hardcore vice grips.

yeah, duh...didnt even realize that. i just assumed that because he didnt have room for a tool he was messing with the rear strut bolts which have much less clearance around them. there is plenty of room for tools around the front ones.
you do own socket wrenches right?

just out of curiosity, what torque are these supposed to be at? I was quite surprised when my Manual for the BMW only listed the torque specs for the strut mount to body bolts to be 26 lbs

Is the hex stripped off the nut or is the thread stripped?
If the hex is stripped, split the nut and get a new 1. If the thread is stripped, cut /grind/ or whatever the nut off replace the strut.

to answer the topic, If it were the first bolt you would have stopped what you were doing and seeked help from a mechanic before getting to the end of the project.
