We don't get that kind of harrasment here and we have large meets. They just tell us to break up after like 11pm. You dont get a ticket or pulled over unless you peel out or do something stupid.

yeah dude, Im right with you... not to hijack the thread, but heres my latest two stories:

oh back in november i believe, I was driving to my gf's house and I had a headlight out... I knew I had a headlight out, but cops around there really dont care about little things like that ever. Well I come around a corner, well within the speed limit but take it kinda sloppy and go to the white line (not even over) and look up and theres a cop coming in the opposite direction. Im like whatever, he wont care. WRONG. he turns around behind me, catches up and puts the cherries on. The guy walks up to the window and asks if I knew why he pulled me over, assuming it was the headlight I played dumb and said no, and he said "your car smelled like pot" Im like WTF!? you could smell me all the way from the other lane huh you f8ck!? obviously i didnt say that, but I was quite suprised. That drug has never been in my car. so he calls 3, count them THREE more officers to come "assist" him, and they proceed to take me out of the car, hold me up against one of there's, frist me down, RIP my car apart, and break a speaker in the process... Then he moved to the truck where all my audio stuff was, and just to mess with him i said "yea theres a little box in there that I wouldnt really touch if I were you..." and hes all in my face about it and like "oh yeah!? whys that? huh?? HUH?!?" and I told him its the junction for the power to my amps and that theres about 300 (or some crazy high number i made up) volts going through it and that it could kill him. he shut up instantly. haha. then he had the other cops, one on each one of my arms, escort me back to the tib so I could point it out to him (it was completely covered, theres no way anything coulda touched it). But yea, in the end the car was destroyed and they never found anything. SAWEET! Tired to get money back for the speaker they broke, but there was no way i could prove it was them. I was pissed

And much more recently, I got pulled over going 75 in a 65.... Im not gunna lie, I usually do like 85. but heres the thing. when he clocked me (according to my radar detector) there were people PASSING ME. It was on the freeway, and im not even kidding my grandma goes more than 75. I was just pissed cuz he had chose to pull me over before he even clocked me and let all the rest of the people going faster get away. I was not happy.

ok sorry that was long, but as you can see, I FULLY agree with you

I modify my vehical just to get the extra power and be able to take turns faster. I don't understand why they would think street racing has anything to do with it. We aren't all trying to be just like our heros in the "fast and the furious"

Those fuxorz can stuff it. I mod because i can. I mod because i have the money. I mod because i have nothing better to do. I mod because i want to explore. I mod to learn. I mod for functionality. I mod to comfort. I mod to make my vehical better.

Dam that sux man.. but.. well.. its nothing out of the ordinary.

Ive dealt with this since ive been driving. Be happy they didnt give you "what gang are you from" or "do you have drugs in the car" routine.

The speeding ticket..
Well..
You asked for that one.

Cops guesstimates are always retarded,... but you were still speeding. Saying " i was going fast, but not that fast" in court wont sit well with the judge.

As far as the fix it tickets..
They arent free.

They will check them for free,... but the court fee will apply. Also hope they dont make you go to an "Authorized" inspector for the lights.

I got pulled over because my HIDs were "dim blue" and i got charged $50 to have them checked.

All just so some guy can say they are "ok". $50 for 3minutes of labor.. eint that special.

The CARB thing,... well you cant blame him on that. I got stopped at Hermosa Beach, and they wanted to tow my car.
I have almost a completly stock engine bay, yet more that half my stuff is either blue or polished.

Luckly i had 3 drunks in the car, and they let me go.
Anything that doesnt look "stock" in the engine bay must have a carb sticker...

Tinted windows... I heard they have fines for that now. Because of people like me (who get windows retinted after being cited) they now just charge like 50-100 bux.

As far as the exhaust,... our lovely legislatures re wrote the exhaust laws to allow officers to cite you based on their opinion.

If they "believe" it is too loud, they have a right now to cite you and force you to have your car inspected.

Sux to be in kali... but, i still think its a small price to pay to live here. I would rather sell my car, then to move.

Hell, the only reason I mod my car is because I want to, I can, and its always been a dream of mine to turbo my car. I dont street race and the only things Ill do with my car is cruise, go to the track, and go to the meets. Cops need to understand not all of us are stupid.

they try to make comission for their department. i love city cops where i live because they know the real deal. i saw a manhunt once, 15 cop cars, 10 of them chasing one guy jumping fences. they've helped me out a little too here and there. they keep watch of the neighborhoods and concentrate on crime and drugs more than anything. i also love undercover city cops (the feds) they're soooo awsome!!! they actually pulled me over for some stunt i pulled off and they just gave me a breathelizer and told me to go home.

it's the park police and the state troopers/highway patrols and motorcycle cops I DESPISE. those a-holes. there have been some drivers pulling stunts like cutting me the hell off going 80mph, then slamming on brakes in front of me because of traffic and they don't get caught for that shit. i see them all the time driving their big BMW's and trucks and no turn signals or anything! driving shouldn't be about pushing your way through, it should be about letting in! you don't see people pushing through a street light, the street light lets you in.

go to court man. explain yourself. judge will say you were just commuting to and from work, you're no trouble maker... and that's that. if you hate those groups of cops, don't we all. we're not doing anything illegal. we're not dealing drugs or shooting rampages.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Spiffywerks @ Feb 9 2006, 04:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>with a cop telling me to open my hood cause he wants to inspect it...</div>

Why did you do it? Just say no. Police have to have reasonable suspicion or a warrant to search your vehicle, and that includes looking under your hood. You did it willingly, had you refused they they would have had to get a warrant, and chances are the cop doesn't want to wait for it unless he thinks you have drugs. Which wouldn't be under the hood. And also, a cop can't legally detain you for more than 45 minutes on a charge not related to why he pulled you.

Don't ever agree to a search of your car if you get pulled for some unrelated violation, even though you have nothing to hide. At that point the cop is just looking for a reason to write more tickets, and you'll end up with your interior torn apart and tickets for whatever he can make up. I'm not saying to be anything but polite, but you can be polite and not hand over your rights. And refusing is NOT probable cause to search. Once you agree, you just waived your recourse in court. A cop can think he has probable cause and search anyway, but a judge actually goes by the law and may very well disagree. Let HIM pop the hood, don't do it for him, don't assist.

State troopers are definitely the worst. City cops and nearby county cops usually have real problems to deal with, so they don't waste time on modified cars. But the more rural an area is, the more likely the local deputy will be drunk on his sense of superiority.

A cop can claim "Probable Cause" for a whole HOST of reasons to search your car. In one of the above examples "I smelled pot" to "I thought I saw a joint".

They can also claim "Probable Cause" to look under your hood if you have a modified exhaust or if your car is making "sounds" that are "not stock sounding"...that's Probable cause. If you've got a riced out body kit, 94" rims and 72' wide tires...that's "probable cause"...

If you refuse to let them search your car, or search under your hood, Then they can impound your car.
Yeah, it's great living in a Nazi state....
