I'm hearing a really draining light moan coming from my back right wheel. We just got a new thermostat for 75 with labour and now this. You think it's most likely the bearing from my shitty description? It almost feels weak in that wheel like there's some wiggle room. Don't worry my wheel doesnt wiggle but it does kinda feel like that.

It still goes away when you turn in one direction if it's a rear wheel. Just replace the whole hub assembly, cheap and easy.

no reason to waste the time or money replacing the entire hub, you dont need any special tools, or even a press for the rear wheel bearings, they pop right out.

its exactly like doing your rear brakes, with one extra nut involved. thats it. very easy. fronts on the other hand can be a nightmare........

My mom talked to a mechanic and he said it will be under $100, probably just under, for parts and labour and said we shouldn't go over a month like this. I dunno

I'm not sure where you're getting that information from. The rear wheel bearings are part of the hub. It's one unit and you have to replace the whole thing. The fronts have separate bearings that are pressed into the hub.

maybe im thinking the hub is more then its not. ive done two, and both times they were just like a bearing casing with the lugs installed also. ive allways thought the hub itself was the big piece the brake calipers, suspension, and bearing all connected to. i might have generalized the part some. so what is the entire unit itself called if so?

They just call it the rear hub assembly. It contains the rear wheel bearing so that is what you are replacing when the bearing goes bad.
