Default Wheel Adapters 4 lug to 5 Lug

What do you guys think of wheel adapters? Or should you just stay away from them? Let me know. My friend has a set a of wheels that would good on my car except they are five lug. Not sure what to do.

Maybe someone else will jump up and say something but I have never heard of a 4 to 5 lug adapter. They dont sound too safe either even if they do make them because if could cause the rims to be no longer hub centric. Correct me if I am wrong someone.

yes ive never heard of an adapter used for going from 4 to 5 lugs. i cant imagine how it would work, or like ultra said, how safe it could be.

They're used all the time in classic Volkswagens. The classic VW Beetle had a 4 lug wheel and most modern aftermarket wheels and most porshe wheels are 5 lug. You can buy VW 4 lug to 5 lug adapters for about $20.

As for safety concerns, I'm not sure. The hubcentric thing is most likely a problem. However, aside from that I'm sure they're safe in low horsepower applications (i.e. Volkswagens).
