Is it really necessary to get calipers as well for the swap?
i dont see why we can't use the olds

No, although the part numbers for the brake pads are different between the two.

absolutely not. i swapped the hub with no problem. got some brake pads, everything fits well. why are you doing a captive rotor swap when you already have rims?

^^^ what parts did you get to do the swap? why did you get brake pads if you kept the rd1 calipers?

i had to modify the rims a bit to get the fronts to fit..

No, you don't need to swap the calipers over. I have both front calipers from a '99 just sitting around... I kept the original ones on.

If you got 2nd hand non-captive rotors, it might be a good idea to get the disc surface machined.

I think it's also best to machine the discs/rotors when replacing pads (I did neither when doing the swap... So far so good).

yeea i'm not even gonna bother getting the pads and rotors, i just need the spindle and hub cause i'm gonna get cross drilled rotors again to match the ones i got on my car already

if i get the hub and spindle off a rd2, does that mean the wheel bearings come with it?
