for my car I had to have my guards rolled or trimmed to make the front tyres fit.
i've got racing sparco wheels 17 x 8 in the front and 17 x 9 in the rear

It cause you increased the overall diameter of your wheels.
You should have gone with 40 profile, instead of 45.

What I'm trying to do is to find an offset+width combination that wouldn't rud, getting the look of the streached tyres, letting me still lower the car, to the max.
As for the Ukranian connection, it seems that Chernobill messed up with our genes to like korean imports... go figure. lmao.gif lmao.gif lmao.gif

Wider wheels on the back of a front driver will generally INCREASE understeer. Even using wider wheels on the back of a rear driver will increase understeer. Sport Compact Car discovered this when they decided to play with their 350Z. in stock form, it understeers badly. It also has wider wheels in the back stock. When they decided to put the same size front and rear.. the car went from understeering to neutral handling.
NOW.... I did recently read that one of GMs high performance front wheel drive cars (grandprix or bonniville) has a staggered setup.. they run a wider wheel on the FRONT wheels.. this actually appears to make the car more neutral.
you need to remember, in a front wheel drive car, those two wheels in the front do most of the work. They steer, put power to the ground, and do the majority of the braking. The rears mostly just hold the back bumper up off of the ground.
