went to midas today for a free brake check...heres some specs

Rear Pad/Shoe---Inner or front .081---Outer or Rear .077---Thickness or diam 350
On this sheet it shows that the recommended minimum specs are .079 for inner and outer--- and .354 for thickness.

On the right side its .079---.072---349

So they say i need new pads and rotors on the back. im postin this to see if these recommended specs are right. i will be taking my car to my original mechanic monday for a second look.

But for "midas plus pads" its 89.99
for rotors its 74.99 each so a grand total of parts/labor is 297.64
is that good or what? and how esay is it to do brakes myself...of course ill hvae someone whos done it b4 help me.

REDZ--i saw on kspec rear pads for 64--any chance you can get me rear rotors as well?

ok this cant be right lol....i just called my old mechanic and he said pads and shoes and rotors for 170 TOTAL that includes installation

I got the:

RotorPro's rotors X 4 (Dimpled/Slotted and Zinc Plated) - $200

EBC Greenstuff Front pads - $75

Wagner Rear pads - $40

$140 to put em all on (crappy Captive rotors needed a press)

For $440, I wont have to worry about brakes for the rest of my car's life. Definately recommend the rotors from Rotorpros. Very high quality.

$79 each for rotors is definitely a ripoff. I got Rotorpros rotors for all 4 wheels for around $200 shipped, I think. Also I got Hawk pads for $100 from tirerack. Changing your own pads and rotors is pretty easy, assuming you have a non-captive setup. It took me about 2 hours to do all four wheels.

You should check for brembo's, i know for my car the 01 they make brembo sport cross drilled or slotted rotors for the front ( not the rear mad.gif for some reason!) I bet those are probably the best you can get. also check baer breaks, they're pretty good too. and of course, flyride got some nice stuff too!
