Default Opinions on Avon tires

No, not makeup, actualy tires. I got a quote, and they are slightly cheaper than the Kumhos, Problem is, do they suck? The quote for wheels and tires I got from Kal-Tire was in my budget Any thought on Avon tires? The model I am getting are the 205/40R17 "ZR" ZZ1 Blk.

HEY!
We have a Kal-Tire here and I called and asked 'bout the Kumho Ecstas and he said they don't carry that,.... But they do have the Avons? And I was like Avons?
So I dunno if they're trying to push them or what,...

Yeah...what's the deal. It would be weird to get Wheels at Kal-Tire and Kumho's somewhere else. I hope I can get these wheels with tires I like and not have to pay obscene ammounts money. Like the Big "O" tires in town which cost $400 more for the wheels alone...

Avons are quite popular over here in the UK, so much in fact, that Aston Martin use them for their cars.

I have 205/40 17" ZZ1's and have been using them for a couple of years now. Never had any complaints with them. They stick well when cornering and disperse water thats laying on the roads really well.

I also had Avons on my XR2i, not such a low profile tyre, but still good performance.

It quite funny really, that over there you've never heard of Avons and probably think that they are terrible, whereas I've never heard of Kuhmo's...they sound like a budget tyre! LOL

Anyway, heres a link to the ZZ1 on Avons site. http://www.avontyres.com/passenger.asp?id=144

Well thanks Zorro. I don't know about you, but I am convinced. I guess Avon aren't so bad after all. If someone asks, I'll just tell them, "Same as they use on Astin Martin." smile.gif
