Default Need help with tire selection...

Firstly, I had these Dunlops on my Motegi's and was rather impressed with them. For $91 USD

However, somebody said that they aren't good quality tires. And the guy at the custom shop I visited said that the tread wear isn't very good compared to others.

I consider the tread pattern a fairly significant factor. That is why I also like these:

Bridgestone
Potenza S-03 Pole Position ($148 USD)

Michelin
Pilot Sport ($168)

My dilemma is this: should I get a better quality tire, that looks good, and that is substantially more expensive, but may last an extra few thousand miles. Or do I spend less money on a good tread pattern but sacrifice having to replace them sooner. What do you guys think?

I will nevr buy another Dunlop, unless I see like 100 tibb ownes + recoomend them and are constantly using them.

I know nissan and miata seem to like dunlops.

Please rank these aspects in order of importance to you:

looks
noise level
street driving performance
wet weather performance
track performance

Then I can give you a realistic recomendation.

#1. At tie between looks and street performance.

#2. Wet Weather Performance.

#3. Noise, or the lack there of.

#4. Track Performance. Because I won't be racing it.

Tread life is also a concern for me.

I think I've found what I've been looking for...

Fairly inexpensive, and the ratings are nearly as good as the Bridgestones and Michelins; according to Tire Rack Not to mention that the tread design is pretty snazzy!

Ah! The yoko es100...I was going to suggest that to look at, along with the Dunlop FM901, and the Bridestone RE730 Gen2.

All these are new tires on the market that incorporate the latest in tire technology to get good dry/wet performance without sacrificing treadlife. All right around $100 per tire too.

Blue2000, the top pic is of the FM901's. Those are what are on my 16" Motegi's right now.

Yeah, the Yokohama's have a good rating going for them, and the price is right.
