QUOTE (Random @ Apr 22 2005, 02:12 AM)
a grinding/trashing/gnashing noise coming from one (or more) corners of the car that increases with wheel speed.

Increased wheel speed? maybe i should sabotage all of my bearings so that i can go faster.
52k and no probs yet

^^ LOL no the noise increases with wheel speed.

I had to replace all three of mine at around 100,000kms (60,000 miles)

Passenger rear was replaced just after my rollover (it had been going for a while)

Driver's front when I got back from a trip out west.

Driver's rear a couple months later.

Passenger front has needed replacing since 140,000km but I've been lazy.

I bought my Tub, when it has 100,000 miles (160,000 km) I don't know if previous owner changed them.

I changed front bearings when I was changing front rotors. Fvkking captive setup!

And now I have 123,750 miles (198,000 km) and I think my rear left bearing is starting to hum.

How long can I drive with humming bearing?

I am starting to think this site is having an effect on my car. There was a thread like this about headlights before... Shortly after, one of my headlights died.

This thread shows up and now one of my wheel bearings is starting to go 02.gif

The hum is the most noticable between 2200 & 2800 rpm's in 5th gear. If I turn Left hard, the hum goes away. Makes me think its either the front right or left rear... but it kinda sounds like its comming from the right rear. Time to throw a passenger in my back seat and have them listen tongue.gif

Hopefully it lasts till the summer cause I am broke 02.gif

I had three of my wheel bearings replaced. Left front at 32,000 kms, Right front at 96,000 kms and left rear at 102,000 kms. For some reason the right rear is still good at 147,000 kms.

Lets see. 87k miles and haven't replaced any. My driving is pretty rough. As passengers say I think I drive the batmobile sine I enjoy 90 degree turns. Anyway....... I drive about 120miles a day. 90% of it is highway miles.
