Yeah... I don't think it would do anything to help their handling ability. Kind of reminds me of people that cut their springs to lower their car. tongue.gif
But what do I know... never know.

it can be done, but the problems you are going to run into are thus:
Weakened springs: By heating and reshaping the spring you are destroying it's temper, it may wind up being softer than stock and will eventually bend and lower the car even more over time
Coil Bind: The closer a coil spring gets to the limits of it's compressed travel. the closer the coils get together. Once they all start to touch, your spring rate goes to infinity and your car becomes the suspension. Aftermarket springs generally have fewer coils, so they are less likely to bind.
Uncertain ride height: this was touched on earlier. By simply heating and compressing the springs, the chances of you getting all four to sit at the same height are not good. You could wind up with one corner of the car sitting higher or lower than the others
Unknown spring rate: You could wind up with four rock hard springs, or four springs that would be better on a 60's caddy. Heating and reshaping a spring does aweful things to it.
Personally, I would probably cut the springs before I heated them. But then, I would also save my pennies and buy a proper set of lowered performance springs in the first place. Like Brakes, the suspension is no place to be cheap.

^^^Yeah, you don't know how heated springs will work. It can be very hard/very soft or fragile.
As a cheap way to lower a car, I would prefer cutting spings (no heating).
But I think it's better to use stock then moddified - it's safer.
