Can I Drive A Short Distance On Only 3 Lugnuts

it probably "clunked" because the other lugs were coming off under the pressure. Also could've been stripping the other studs in the process.

Matt -- drive it up and down the road a few times and see if it wobbles or makes any noises. If you can keep the other three TIGHT then it shouldn't be a problem. A stud broke off mine somehow, and didn't know that's what was causing the clunking noise (it got better when I would brake). I kept looking at the wheels and finally realized I was missing a stud. I drove about 20-25 miles like that without causing damage/problems.
