QUOTE (Gary)
would i be able to use a 205/45/17" tire on my 2000 tib and be able to lower the car so there is no wheel gap, without a trouble? Because i dont want to loose my front bumber so i figures a 45 series would bring it up the front a little when lowered compared to the 40 series tire

I have a set of TSW Blades 205/45/17 on a 99SE, and it rubs.. and it is sitting at stock(I think) height. The front right tire itself, has been rubbing against the outer fender when I go around corners, and the fender has started to eat away the rubber on the inside.

They fitted on my 2k2 elantra just fine some im hoping the TIb has more clearance room and I should be ok? any ideas?....and no drop here, stock height.....

stick 'em on therrr and find out... if you already have them, go for it.

I have 215/40/17 with factory suspension and have no problems at all, never rubbed

Yes I already do have them from my 2k2 elantra.....And what do you mean peeps dont listen, this is my Tib and I have been searching high and low for a exact post that says 215/45/17 tires dont fit, so calm down KayJai.........

I just think its weird that if a Elantra can fit it, why not a sports compact car such as the TIburon would be able to fit it?....To be when it comes to my tires, the thicker the better cause these roads are shitty out here in DC

OK ... I ran 205/45/17's on my elantra when I had it and on my tib when it was at STOCK height ... it was fine except for looking a little 4x4ish ... I installed the eibach pro kit 1.5" drop and found that I could no longer turn my car without pulling my fender lip. 205/40/17 is the perfect size ... another friend with 215/40/17 and the same drop as me rubs on turns a little too ... so I would say that if you are going with stock height ... 45's'll work ... otherwise 205/40/17's

yea so it seems the 215/45/17s will be alright. I had to take off the front mud flaps and cut some of the fender well out, but other than that, they sit will snug in the wheel well. I do not plan to lower it though, that could create some problems lol.gif

but i can slide my hand all the way around the tire and past the struts so I have about a half an inch clearance room between stut and tire, but thats how my elantra was and it was fine. so if anyone has further questions about this, i'll be happy to respond
