I finally saved enough to pay for some nice 17's. When the wheel shop got them, they installed them, lowered the car and the tires went way up int the fenders and I could barely turn the wheel. I had like an inch of turning space before it rubbed. If i were to hit a bump it would be disasterous. I know tibs can fit 17's so whats up with mine? Is it possible that it has a lowering kit that i dont know about from the previous owner? Suspension checked out ok and isn't buick-like. Need some info before they are sent back. Thanks.

Your tires should be 205/40/R17..

I have 17" velox's on my stock suspension with 205/40R17 tires. and I have an inch or two of clearance. anyways those tires should only be a little wider than your stock tires. just putting on 17's isn't going to make it go into your wheel well. they should be nearly the same diameter with the right tire.

what kind of wheels/tires?

edit^^215/40/r17's have been reported to fit as well.

No clue what size. They weren't super-low profile but close. They could have did a few smaller sixes but it wouldnt have made a difference they said. Did you roll your fenders and/or remove your splash gaurds?

dude, if you didn't get 205/40/R17 your speedo's gonna be off, and if you really got a bigger size, then it could raise your height enough to hit.
The reason you change your tire size is to accomodate for the extra inches the wheel takes up, the ride height should not change at all, because the height of an inflated tire from top to bottom on the stock OEM 15" rims is the SAME as any 17" wheel with 205/40/17 (on a tib)...get what i'm sayin?

17s should take NO modification (except on some older tibs that have hubs in the rear)

I would find out what tire size they gave you...I don't really see how you can screw it up, I mean if you look in any book it gives u the reccommended sizes and such for each wheel size.

BTW, which wheels/tires did you get? how much do they weigh? I bet your tib is gonna be lookin' nice..cool.gif

Ok man, will do. Thanks again. I hope they haven't ordered the 16's like they said the were going to. I want those 17's. Got some Panther Trifecta wheels. Chrome, of course. They kinda look like the rims on your blue tib, except chrome. More for show than preformance.

They look better on the car than in the pics.
